Design Your Vision

Your brain is wired to respond to what it sees. That’s where the Reticular Activating System (RAS) comes in. It’s like the bouncer of your brain, filtering in what matters and blocking out the rest. When you consistently expose your mind to images aligned with your goals, your RAS begins seeking ways to make them happen. What you focus on literally begins to shape your reality.

When you place your dreams in front of you—in the form of a vision board pinned to your wall, laptop screen saver, a sticky note on your mirror, a picture on your fridge—your mind gets to work behind the scenes. You begin to notice opportunities you once ignored. Decisions feel more aligned. Goals feel closer, clearer, and more achievable—sometimes in the most surprising ways.

This is the science behind the magic. Vision boards aren’t just “woo”—they’re wiring. They engage your RAS, helping your brain spot opportunities, reinforce new habits, and stay aligned with what matters most.

Create a Vision Board

I encourage everyone to create a digital vision board as their computer’s screen saver using Canva. If tech isn’t your thing, there are vision board books on Amazon that you can cut and paste from (yes, adult arts and crafts are totally a thing). At the very least, write a powerful message that speaks to you on a sticky note and place it on your bathroom mirror.

Here comes a powerful moment of clarity: When you created your vision for the year, did you include your business in it? Did you see bold numbers, an inspiring office space, a thriving team? Or did your mind drift only to beaches, Disneyland, and yoga?

There’s no wrong answer—but you do need to be hounest with yourself on what you truly want in this season of your life.

Your vision sets the tone for your goals. If business growth is a priority, it deserves a front-row seat in your visual story. If rest and travel are what you’re craving, let that take centre stage. Once you’re crystal clear on what you want, you can then create a strategy that aligns your daily actions with your bigger picture.

The Start of a Business Plan

For business owners, your strategy becomes your business plan—and every business plan starts with the same foundational question: What is your vision? Take time to summarize what you see in front of you. Or upload your vision board picture to ChatGPT and ask it to capture your vision in words—you may be surprised by the clarity it brings.

Because once your vision is clear, everything else gets easier. The daily decisions, goals, priorities, and even habits start to align. A strong vision becomes a filter—helping separate distractions from direction, and “busy” from productive. When life and business are built from the same intentional foundation, momentum doesn’t feel forced…it feels aligned.

Create space for your vision, and let it evolve into your reality.

  1. RAS – I learned something new today. I didn’t know what a Reticular Activating System was. I will be applying this tool to my Cognitive Management System as I build up what I believe will be a Million Dollar mortgage business. Thanks Alicia
