Coffee has always been part of my morning ritual, that cozy moment of stillness before the day starts. But over the years, I’ve learned how to upgrade my cup into something that not only tastes amazing but also supports my body and brain.
These days, my morning Americano isn’t just coffee, it’s a functional blend that fuels focus, boosts energy, and supports long-term wellness.
Wait an Hour Before You Brew
Here’s something most people don’t realize: it’s actually better not to drink coffee immediately after waking up.
When we first wake, our bodies naturally produce high levels of cortisol, the “alertness hormone”, that helps regulate energy and stress. Drinking coffee too soon can interfere with this natural rhythm, leading to energy crashes or caffeine dependence later in the day.
Waiting about 60–90 minutes after waking allows your cortisol levels to settle. Then, when you finally sip your coffee, you’ll enjoy a more stable and sustained energy boost — no jitters, no crash, just clean focus.
My Morning Coffee Blend
Here’s what goes into my upgraded Americano:
MCT Oil: Medium-chain triglycerides are a clean source of energy that your body converts quickly into ketones, which help fuel the brain and enhance focus. MCT oil gives you that steady, sustained energy instead of the quick highs and lows of caffeine alone.
Collagen: I add a scoop of collagen every morning to support skin elasticity, hair, nails, and joint health. It’s also beneficial for gut support and recovery, especially if you’re an active individual.
Creatine: While often associated with athletes, creatine is incredible for everyone. It supports muscle strength, energy production, and even cognitive performance. Think of it as fuel for both your body and your brain.
Blend it all together, and you’ve got a rich, creamy, nutrient-packed coffee that keeps you energized and focused for hours.
Coffee & Longevity

Beyond the energy boost, research suggests that coffee may be linked to longevity. Regular coffee drinkers tend to have a lower risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. Coffee is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, which help reduce inflammation and support healthy aging. When enjoyed mindfully (and not overdone), it’s one of the simplest daily habits that can support long-term health.
For me, coffee isn’t just about caffeine, it’s about creating a morning routine that supports how I want to feel. It’s a simple, delicious way to start the day feeling grounded, nourished, and focused.
